Pre-Freshman Summer Program

Wow...I think this is a great opportunity....anyone that did this...how was It??
Anyone thinking they might want to do it? lol :D

I wasn’t sent an invite, but I emailed the head of CAS and she said she would talk to the head of the program to see if they can put my name in. It really does sound like an amazing opportunity!

I got an invite for it, and if I decide to go to Cornell will probably seriously consider it. Did anyone else get the Cornell Tradition Fellowship as well?

PSP is a great opportunity although it can be VERY HOT…i’m still not quite sure how i survived without an A/C!

there are some bad things as you can feel a bit restricted in getting the FULL freshman experience (since you’d already have had it in the summer)

I received an invite… I feel like they don’t think I’ll be able to handle Cornell  I would def go but prom is june 21, graduation is the 23rd, and I kind of want my summer to spend with family and friends.

where are you coming to school from? i know that some PSP kids my year were given permission to go back home for graduation…

some kids are given PSP invites b/c they MUST successfully complete PSP to be admitted into cornell…

others who get PSP invites are those who might have gone to DHW and whose college feels they could benefit from it…

lol, you guys might want to check your acceptance letters again.

For most who got invited to PSP, you are not officially accepted by Cornell until you have successfully completed PSP.

Check to see if it’s mandatory before deciding whether prom and graduation are worth more than PSP.

sorry for stepping on your heels Resurgam, didn’t see you had posted pretty much the same thing.

well i’m going to my old school’s graduation and prom and it’s really important for me to go. it’s in new york. and i was accepted early decision, actually. and it barely mentioned psp.

was everyone invited to PSP? i got in ED, and i dont think ive really heard of it

PSP is mostly i’d say 80% for H/EOP NY State residents…

the others are for students who might be considered H/EOP students if they lived in NY…i.e. me being a low income student from texas…

I got “nominated” for it…that’s what the letter says in front of me. They have a Selection Committee who nominates students. But first I have to be selected once I applied.

says here that you have to take 1 regular credit course and two other enrichment courses. June 20-Aug 5. Everything is paid for by the college.

It also says the spaces are limited, and if number exceeds limit, they will select who will benefit the most.

ummm…so if we dont successfully complete PSP what happens??
not that I think i won’t but…it cant be a deciding factor of admission? it would be too late to go anywhere else…
oh well im coming from texas and yes low income DHW…lol
thanks for the info :D

Yeah, I was “nominated” too. Nothing mandatory. Same and Imthehost, they offered to pay for it and waive my summer earning expectation if I attend, but to let them know if I won’t be since space is limited or something. I was also invited to DHW though, so it may be my minority status that got me the invite.

IT WAS AWESOME!
You’ll have lots of fun
If you don’t successfully complete it, you dont get matriculated into the class

I emailed and apparently all the spots were full. But that’s okay, I’ll live. :)

Haha well if it helps NJBkitty, I’ll probably be turning down my offer, so maybe that’ll open up a spot? Haha.

if we were nominated and not required and we don’t successfully complete does it matter

i think if you dont successfully complete and it wasnt required of you…then you will probably be charged the cost of attendance…
