I’m freaking out because the core classes I’m enrolled in for SHA conflict with the elementary french lectures. I’m trying to get a minor in french so I need to take it. I also have an 8:40am everyday. I could do that two days a week, but every single one?! Will my advisor be able to help me get in the right classes? (I don’t even have one yet.) Will the add/drop period be sufficient for fixing my schedule? Any help is appreciated.
Take a deep breath, it is only first semester. You may be able take some of the core SHA classes next semester as well. 8:40 classes every day is doable (remember you had morning classes every day for the past 4 years). you just need to adjust your life/work/study habits. Things change during the Add/Drop period and you can always contact a professor about enrolling in a class that is closed to help your schedule. Talk to your advisor for some guidence. It will work out. Enjoy the summer.
While 8:40 classes aren’t great, you can survive them for a semester. If your SHA class conflicts with your French class and they’re both only offered at one time, you’ll need to pick one over the other. Once you get assigned an advisor, you can email him to see what he suggests. One of the classes may be offered again in the spring.
Hello, as a hotelie, you can’t add/drop cores until you get to your junior cores. During orientation, you will be able to do a body-body switch, where you find someone who wants to switch into your time and vice versa (I had to do this for Spanish). Also, you should be fine with 8:40, most hotelies have 8:40s their first year, though if it’s management communication or financial accounting it might be difficult.
