Is anyone going to the Pre-Frosh weekend April 29 - May 1? I'm from California, and I was wondering if it was worth the experience before I buy a plane ticket - also if anyone else was planning to go...

Congrats Class of 2009!

Congrats Class of 2009!

It's definitely worth the experience. It's amazing, I promise. You'll have a ball and meet soooooooo many cool people. It's one of the few times you'll be here and have nothing but time on your hands - almost akin to Freshmen Week, but everything is newer. It will really help you make a decision - or, if you've already made one - will probably make you feel a lot more comfortable with it. Plus we've got so much going on here for you guys! Parties galore, the Springfest carnival, the Eleganza fashion show and lots more! And Harvard loves to give pre-frosh free ice cream, so come take advantage of it!!!

Hope to see you here in a few weeks (and again in the fall! :-)

Unless you still haven't made your decision, don't go. Sure, you'll meet great people, but you'll meet them anyway at Harvard...

I'm going. I get off school and I get to travel alone. Why not?

For some people the transportation is a significant financial burden. If it isn't for you, by all means go.

I'm not going because it's too close to the May 1 reply deadline. Even if I get all the other colleges to extend it to May 3, I don't want to visit a college 2 days before I make my decision because the excitement from the open house may prompt me to enroll at Harvard even if it may not be the right choice for me. Instead, I'm doing an overnight stay this week.

Wise choice. Prefrosh weekend, while fun, isn't terribly representative of the college. If you can, go during the week and hit some lectures instead.

yeah, I'm going then because I've already decided I'm going to Harvard...otherwise I'd be w/ you visiting this/next week suburbian.

weren't you debating between huntsman and harvard? what made you decide definitely on harvard, jw?

I decided that I was too unsure of the business aspect to committ myself to it for four years. Harvard had the flexibility I couldn't get w/ Huntsman. I still love Penn, though...it's a great school. If I had felt surer about the business part, thats probably where I'd be next year.

alita, are you going to huntsman day tomorrow? i'm pretty sure i'm going to harvard, too, but i'm going to be there tomorrow to make sure.

I can't...I couldn't get away from work and school. Plus I already sent in my cards, I wanted to get the decision over with. However, I spent 2 days at Penn in Nov, and did basically everything done on hunstman day (3 classes, dining hall, met with inge, info sessions and campus tour, etc.) Have fun!

It'll be a lot of fun. If you go, you should all go to the Pops Orchestra concert, Friday April 29th at 8 PM at Lowell Lecture Hall (across the street from Memorial Hall). We're playing a murder-mystery themed concert. Selections will include Scooby Doo, Catch Me if You Can, Indiana Jones, and the Alfred Hitchcock theme song. Rumor has it that the conductor will be mysteriously murdered during the performance.

Don't miss the a cappella jam either.

suburbian- i'm on the same page as you, i'm overnighting this coming thursday. i figure it's better to get a more realistic picture of the school before i commit. this way, if i do decide on harvard i won't be expecting something all summer that i don't get the next year.
