Pre-Frosh Weekend Guest List

LOL
I like the Global Thermonuclear War bit, very exciting.
Touche.

SteelPangolin funny :)

Yeah, but you forgot to add Self-Loathing, the game you usually play after freestyle electrical repair.

Ben:

That was a joke.

I thought it was pretty funny, I just hope that business about the other prefrosh being thoughtful and erudite wasn't a joke. If you poke fun at them too much they will eat you. Beware the other prefrosh. They would probably find your toes delicious.

Actually, Napoleon attacked Russian on June 23 and Hitler attacked the Soviet Union on June 22. Napoleon, who hadn't lost a battle, captured Moscow unopposed in mid-September. However, the evacuating Russians had taken everything edible with them, then proceeded to torch the city. Without supplies, Napoleon had no choice but to retreat. The retreat began in mid-October.

Hitler's army would fight through three Russian winters (and summers) before being driven back.

thx for the info, EllenF

haha Australian indoor-rules quidditch... It's been so long since I've read MacHall

Do Caltech students generally tend to be more political on scientific issues, especially concerning issues like stem-cell research and global warming, but not so much social issues that scientists are not so concerned about?

I think that I would fit in with the typical Caltech student politically (someone can correct me if I'm wrong). While dissatisfied with the current president, I don't really feel that any action is worth it and I am far more interested in my own affais than in political affairs. I'm more interested in scientific affairs but still don't feel that much can be done, although I do sympathize with the Union of Concerned Scientists. Not to mention that there aren't any appealing alternatives.

========

Also, on an unrelated tone, but Ben, how much time do you have as a Caltech student to post such detailed and thoughtful replies? ;)

So you don't have any ideas, you don't follow the issues, and you don't care about anyone but yourself, but you somehow know it's all being run wrong... you'd fit in just fine.
