Pre-haas scheduling questions

Help, I wanted to take either Math 16A Or econ 1 in my first semester, now both are full, (international, no Calso), I will get my adviser code on 5th I think, do you think I should enroll in UGBA 10 which has space(people usually are against taking it in the first sem) or should I get on the waitlist for math 16A and econ.
16 A has space in one slot but that lecture doesn't go with my schedule. The other lecture has space but not in sections, should I enroll and wait for new discussions to open? I don't want to end up without any of the pre requisites in the first sem.
Thanks

I think you can get into 16A if you waitlist…not too sure about econ since a good prof is actually teaching it this sem lol that being said, you might want to take your chances waitlisting so you get a good prof. How many are on the wl already?

UGBA 10 isn’t really all that bad, just stay on top of reading and stuff…and hope you don’t make stupid mistakes xP

I’m pre-haas as well and idt econ 1 is full? unless you mean the disc are full so you can sign up for the class, because in which case i think they open more disc sessions, because the class is a 700-seater one

Just waitlist for both and you’ll get in for sure. People tend to drop the class during the first 3 weeks so if you stay around, you’ll make it in! Perseverance is the key here!

I am positive you’ll get in math 16A for sure. Econ1 is probably a 70-80% range. It’s not that bad trust me. Waitlist, show up to section, and wait it out. People will be absent, switch sections, etc… and you’ll make it into the class!

You’ll get into Math 16A no problem because the Math department will probably open up more sections and they’re really good about getting people off the waitlist. So just waitlist first but keep on the lookout for open sections.

For Econ 1, there are seats open (Discussion 103 has 27 seats open), but if not, get on the waitlist because Olney is teaching in the Fall (and is the best teacher for econ 1).

I’d definitely waitlist Math 16A since that’s probably the easier of the 2 to get into at this point. You could also just take one pre-requisite in the semester if Econ 1 doesn’t work out (assuming you waitlist it) and offset that by taking an extra pre-requisite in a future semester - the advantage there is that doing so would allow you to better ensure a good grade toward Haas while also transitioning academically, socially, etc. to Berkeley.
