Pre-Law Question

Is pre-law as a minor or major an advantge for law school? or is it better to major History/Gov/English?

It doesn't matter what major you choose undergrad, except that you should choose something that you enjoy and do well in your chosen major.

Isn't there no such thing as a "pre-law" or "pre-med" major? It is just a path one can take to focus their courses. For example, pre-med students take certain courses required by med schools.

Forgot to add this:

But they don't actually MAJOR in pre-med, they major in bio, or in the case of my brother, molecular & cell biology.

And there is no pre-law major. Pre-law students major in poli sci, or economics, etc., intending to go on to law school.

And if you want to go to law school, I have heard that one's major does not matter.

some colleges have legal studies majors.

I'll put my opinion out there and say that I think that an undergraduate major in legal studies would be a big waste of a college education for someone who wants to go to law school.

good point. northwestern offers legal studies as a major, but only as a second major; no student can graduate majoring in legal studies alone.
