So, I know absolutely nothing about law school, but I hear a lot of people become English/Poli Sci/Philosophy majors to become lawyers. I was wondering, are there any pre reqs for Law Schools like there are for Med Schools, and if not, what classes are suggested to be taken?

I know you can be any major and be pre law, but would it be a bad idea to be something like a Biology major and consider Law School?

Any help is appreciated. Right now, Law School is a definite and huge MAYBE in my life because I have a long time to decide. What do I really need to know about Law School and being Pre Law?

Thanks.

You can be any major and get into law school. I am in physics, but I can still apply and get in. If you want to do Patent Law, it is good to have an undergrad science degree.

Thanks, and nice username. I’m thinking I might do Biology and work in Environmental Law or try to be a lawyer for a group like WWF or the Woodland Trust or something along those lines.

You should major in whatever you really enjoy and can do best in. My husband is a government geologist and loves his office’s general counsel, a lawyer who did his undergrad in geology, and really understands the issues the geologists face. He also says one of the best Sierra Club lawyers he has ever worked with was a bio major. Be sure to take some courses that require critical thinking and lots of dense reading & writing, though. And take an LSAT prep course.

Thats great advise Midwest Mom. Thanks :)
