What can you tell me about the pre-law experience at Cornell?
There is no pre-law major at Cornell. There are, however, a lot of resources that guide you as to what classes you should take and programs that you can do. You can really major in anything - ILR is pretty common for people that are interested in labor law or corporate law, but you can also do History, Government, Economics,Policy Analysis and Management, or anything depending on the type of law you want to go into. It may be beneficial to look at some of the links here: http://admissions.cornell.edu/learn/academics/preparing-law-school
There are also Law school days where you can go and meet admissions officers from Law schools. It’s kind of like career fairs but for law programs. You can see a list of schools here: http://www.career.cornell.edu/events/LawSchoolDay/schools.cfm
You could also do Cornell in Washington and do their public policy program. A lot of people I know who are going on to law school have done this: http://admissions.cornell.edu/learn/academics/preparing-law-school
Also I forgot to add, there are pre-law fraternities
- PAD: I think this one has open enrollment to anyone who wants to join. http://www.cornellpad.com/
- KAPi: They have a rush process - http://www.cornellkapi.com/
Thank you so much!!! @lichte94
