pre-major vs DUS

I'm applying to smeal and if i get rejected maybe ill apply to dus but i have a doubt
what are the difference between pre-major in business and dus
does pre-smeal have any advantage
is it difficult to get into smeal from dus

@aly310 can you help me regarding this please its urgent

Smeal is harder to get into , it’s a selective school and one of the most competitive. If you do get rejected from smeal, ask to switch into DUS and to be reconsidered. But applying to DUS and selecting the summer option helps to slightly increase your chances. Cause for premajor and DUS, both have to take gen eds and other courses before actually DECLARING and doing a major in the school of their choice.

@aly310 so what’s the advantage of directly being admitted to smeal???
and my stats are 1800sat and 3.7gpa i know this is low for smeal but I only want to major in business
and international prority deadline is feb 1 and if I get rejected from smeal around that time i’m scared that dus will be full and i cant be reconsidered

DUS you explore other options and the requirements for the college you want but smeal you work towards your intended major requirements rather than the college requirements because you’re already in.

Also there will still be space for you since youre international.

@aly310 even if I get rejected by smeal and get dus. I have a good shot of getting in into business major right

Yeah! And you’ll probably get accepted into smeal though.

@aly310 thanks soo much for your help and I hope the same
penn state is my first choice and I would love to go there and though I think my chance for purdue is more beacuse they tend to accept a lot of indians and they give more pref to sat math mine is 680m,520r,610w reading screwed everything lol and are you a current student in penn state
and one more thing would you like to read my personal statement

You’re welcome. & No but I got accepted. I did a lot of research on these forums and their website before applying. Also sure just PM me.
