What is vanderbilt's overall premed acceptance rate?

On friday one of the deans said it was like 70%.

its that high?? does this apply to undergraduates applying to vandy's med school??

What it means is that 70% of undergraduate applicants get in somewhere. It's really not too high for a private, top-tier institute. Basically, of the pre-med students that enter Freshman year, only a fraction will pursue pre-med enthusiastically. Many people cannot succeed in pre-med courses because they are hard. Many people cannot succeed in pre-med courses because they like to party, drink, and just about everything else but study. Of course, some will find that their calling lies elsewhere; thus, the number of pre-med students who make it through the initial weed-out courses and decide medicine is for them are the only ones applying. Of these, 70% get in somewhere. This may be John Hopkins, the University of Alabama, or Meharry. The point is, statistics can be deceiving, but we are above the mean and getting into any medical school is an accomplishment.
