Pre-med Advice

Hi!
I am planning on being pre-med with a major in biochemistry and minor in studio art. I basically only have 2 more weeks left of high school because seniors have design an independent project for the spring. I’m planning on still taking really good and detailed notes for my Advanced Biology class because I was thinking that maybe I could use them to review next year? I’m super worried because I know that WashU’s Biology and everything will be so much harder so I need all the help I can get. Is this a useful idea?

Thanks!

I already finished both introductory bio courses (bio 2960/2970) at washu so I have an idea of how they are. When I was a senior in high school, I was also worried about how difficult college science classes were going to be so I know how you feel. If i were you i would seriously just try to enjoy the last semester of high school and not worry about college bio lol. The class is challenging, however, the teachers do teach you enough for you to do well. As long as you study efficiently and have a good work ethic you really should be fine for intro bio. You dont even need much prior knowledge, they really try to start from the most basic level and build up since everyone has a different background. The main difference between high school bio and bio here is that though bio here starts at the very basic, it progresses really quickly and goes really in depth so you want to stay on top of the work. There is also a tremendous amount of memorization for bio 1 so if youre good at that bio 1 shouldnt be that hard. Also you cant even take bio 1 till second semester freshmen year so you still have a long way to go!
