If I do not get off the waitlist at my top choice, I will be attending a small LAC where I will be expected (but not required) to play division 3 field hockey and ice hockey. Is it possible to play two sports and still have enough time to meet gpa and EC standards? I was not officially recruited, so I do have the option of changing my mind.

I had a friend who ran track during both the indoor and outdoor seasons at a division 1 school, and is now a third year medical student, so yeah it’s doable.

yeah, it’s doable. It’s a little ***** sometimes, but doable. I play a sport that requires anywhere from 10-20 hour a week commitment and have a job (only about 10 hours a week). I also try to go out at least one night a week, if not both Friday and Saturday.

It’s just time management. A lot of people suggest making school your 9-5 job (in my case, 8-4), so you go to class and study mostly within that time frame. I almost NEVER get work done after practice… I just get too tired. Unless I really have work to do, I try to make 9-11ish relax time, just hang out at home, eat dinner, watch t.v.

I really enjoy my sport, which makes it a lot easier. I actually look forward to going to practice every day, and really like traveling with the team, so it doesn’t feel like work, it’s something I want to do.

Give it a shot, definitely. Plenty of people do it and if you can juggle it all, it’s worth it.

Ok, thank you so much for your responses!
