Is it a good idea for a pre med student majoring in International Relations with a minor in World Religion to study a semester abroad? If so, I would have the option to study in a medical oriented program OR an International Relations program, I am a little undecided because the program for IR is in Rome, and the medical one is in India. So would medical schools look down on me for taking a semester to study IR in Rome as it could be seen as more of a 'vacation' versus going to India and enduring the hardships of studying + volunteering in a third world country in a medical related program (studying world health, epidemiology etc). I plan on doing it the fall semester on my freshman year before I begin doing clinical research, shadowing, volunteering, EC etc.
