Pre-Med at GWU

second time writing this cuz first time it froze so im just gonna keep it short and simple

  1. anyone done pre-med or heard about pre-med at GWU?
  2. is it great, is there influence for admission to GWU med school?
  3. would i do well there if i have a 3.8 weighted gpa (probably 3.3 uw) at a competitive nj public high school?
  4. would joining honors university make a difference/is it worth it?

I have little knowledge with GWU premed, but I believe its not an easy street. I, however, knows a little about competitive NJ public high school. With a 3.3 uw GPA there is nothing to write home about it and I am not sure you will be the top 25% of the entering class at GWU. 90% of the GWU entering class is in top 25% of the HS. As a premed, you should target a school that you will be at least top 25% of the entering class.

One thing for sure, GWUSOM is a lower ranking med school with an average GPA around 3.7~3.8 but it receives the highest number of applicants(in the 10,000 range per year) and has the lowest acceptance rate. Being an outstanding student in GWU UG will give you a slight edge in getting into its own med school, but only a very small edge.
