Pre-med at NYU?

Okay so I’m from New Jersey and plan on majoring in biochemistry and pursuing the pre-med track. I’m currently torn between attending NEU or NYU. I got into the honors program at NEU but NYU is closer to home so idk what to do. I have to decide soon where to go, and I honestly have no clue where i would be happier because I like them both equally. Here are a few questions I have – any help would be greatly appreciated

  1. How strong are the science departments at NYU? Especially for biochemistry.
  2. What opportunities are there for students pursuing pre-med?
  3. Do most pre-med students get accepted to good medical schools?
  4. How good is the pre-med advising?
  5. How hard is it to make friends at NYU?
  6. How is the social/campus life at NYU?
  7. Any negative aspects?

Campus life at NYU is unique in that NYC is your campus. NEU is a little kore closed off from Boston. For that reason, NYU has very little school spirit and doesn’t really have a very strong sense of community. Students who live off campus commute from all 5 boroughs.

How’s the money and financial aid?

@CaliCash I got full tuition scholarships from both

The comment about NYU not having a strong community is way off base. My D is about to graduate and she found a the exact opposite to be the case. The West Village is NYU’s campus. If you take a walk in Washington Square Park – you will be surrounded by NYU students who are calling out to each other. I love how people who really know nothing about NYU, feel comfortable making blanket statements.
