Pre-med at NYU

No idea. Talk to an advisor. The earlier you start preparing and planning for the switch, the better off you'll be.

if you're going to go to med school anyway, does it matter tremendously where you undergrad? im sure the NYU name can't hurt, but premed programs are so rigorous across the board. I find it hard to believe that someone with awesome grades who attended a state school would be denied admission to a top-tier medical school based solely upon the name on top of their diploma.

i could be completley off-base (im no premed), but if i knew i had to do a professional school/law school/ med school, i think i would save money at a city or state school, work my butt off, and then apply to the best of the best.

Good point, but if your not completely positive and even if you are (you may change your mind later on) and you dont go to the better more expensive school, then you will be at a state school and graduate with a less reputable degree than one you could have had at a school such as NYU.

It is very tough to decide.

i agree with matt1288, for premed students, it's the graduate school that really counts. Save your money for your dream graduate school.
even if you change your mind later, then you can always transfer to other schools and you might end up attending schools like stanford or something..
And in case you don't change your mind.. you already have a lot of debts to nyu and will have to loan again for your graduate school.

if i were you, i would choose a state school for now and see if i still wanna do premed, then decide what to do next. don't change your passion for glory! just pursue whatever you want right now. You've gotten into nyu, you can get in again or get into a better school as a transfer.

mannnn this is sooo hard

i would just like to emphasize what Etnad had stated previously:

“don’t change your passion for glory!”

…words of wisdom.
