well i'm applying to the science schools which include Stony-Brook and Bing, but i also hear Oswego has a good reputation too. My grades aren't really up to par when it comes to Bing, and i hear the campus life at Stony-Brook isn't that great, so im considering to apply to Oswego. anyone have an opinion or any info on the pre-med program or on Oswego in general??

Thanks in advance!!

I’m pretty sure Stony Brook has the best premed program out of the 3. Don’t count a school out based on what you heard. I go to Stony Brook and have a great time. It all depends on the person.

You might want to take a look at this page on the Oswego website, as well as the links provided:

[SUNY Oswego - Pre-Med Studies](http://www.oswego.edu/academics/colleges_and_departments/departments/interdisciplinary/premed/index.html)

You can certainly get to medical school from Oswego, although the two universities you mentioned, along with Geneseo, may well have a better history of placing their top graduates into medical school. And, as Oswego says, you don’t need to major in one of the sciences to get into med school, that is merely the most common route. What you want to do is earn top grades in whatever your major, establish a strong relationship with professors who have a good track record of assisting students they recommend into med school, earn strong MCAT scores and make sure you take the required undergrad courses for med school (i.e. Organic Chemistry, General Biology, Calculus).

I also agree with wdrmhbs – check out Stony Brook for yourself. You might end up with a different impression that the one you have heard about.

i really appreciate your answers and advices. Ill definitely look into Stony Brook and visit this summer since it really depends on my opinion. and yeah, im thinking of majoring in Psych while being in the Pre-Med program since I’ll be taking the required courses for med school. and it really helped that you provided the link since i couldnt find it on their website.
