I'm a High School Junior and have me eyes set on a career in medicine. Pomona College is definitely one of the universities I'd love to attend.

Does anyone know what pre-med at PC is like? Is it harder, easier, than other universities of PC's standards/prestige? Also what about grade inflation/defaltion, what classes are like, and if it is hard to maintain a high (>3.7 GPA)?

Thank you!

There is no specific major to pre-med in most Liberal Arts Schools, but Pomona has a Health Science Program through which you have advisers that can guide you into what you track you should focus on.
Pomona has a fantastic track record for sending students to medical school- I think the number was somewhere around 85-95% each year. It is not well known by the average person, but graduate schools and medical schools know it is a prestigious school rivaling some of the top national universities in terms of student and academic quality. Pomona is somewhat inflated but that’s more representative of the exceptional student body instead of easy grades. Pomona classes are tough, challenging, and fulfilling, but if you keep up with the effort you will be able to manage them. At current state, a 3.7(11 in terms of Pomona’s system, or A-) GPA shouldn’t be impossible, but it’s not easy to get either. Science majors do have it harder at Pomona statistically speaking, but the professors are incredibly accessible, brilliant, and conducive to creating an atmosphere where the exchange of knowledge is mutual.
