Pre-med at Tulane?

Can anyone give me some insight on pre-med at Tulane? Is Tulane pretty solid for the sciences and how successful are the students getting into medical school?
I've searched the forums but I didn't really find anything too helpful.

Thank you in advance. :)

I wanna know as well :S

Look at this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/tulane-university/913291-pre-med.html?

Tulane is very solid for the sciences, but the fact of the matter is that for undergrad purposes you will find very little difference between any of the well-regarded schools (meaning just about any in the top 150 of USNWR, and 150 is arbitrary to some degree). It isn’t like you are doing a PhD type thesis as an undergrad trying to get into med school; you are learning chemistry, bio and physics at essentially their most basic levels, at a minimum. Virtually all top schools accomplish this quite well.

Having said that, if your goal is to major in a science and try and do some meaningful research as an undergrad, Tulane is an excellent place for it. Because it is not the powerhouse grad school factory for these areas that places like Harvard or Cal Tech are, there is a lot of focus on the undergrads and great opportunities for research work. You can also get to know your profs quite well at Tulane if you want, and that would be very useful for recs, I would think.

In the end, as stated on the other thread, getting into med school is determined far more by your own intelligence, discipline, and initiative than whether you go to Tulane, Duke, Harvard, Berkeley or any other school you can name. The happier you are with your choice of school based on location, size, “vibe”, and/or other factors important to you, the more likely it is you will perform well and have a full, well-rounded college experience.
