Pre-med at UCB

So I'm currently deciding between UCB and UCLA and one of the things I've been hearing around here is fear about not getting into med school from UCB and the extreme competitiveness. I know there have been a few posts similar to this but I just want some to clear up some things.

Now I realize that the grade deflation thing is true but I wanted to know: how much does that really impact your chances at med school?

Like if I put in the same amount of effort into my studies at UCB or UCLA, which of these schools would I go to, to have more of an advantage to get into med school? Like would the extreme competitiveness and grade deflation at UCB really hinder me more than it would if I went to UCLA? Or would it be the same situation at both of those schools?

And lastly, do you think the med schools realize the grade deflation that goes on at UCB and other schools like it, so that they would consider your GPA with that in mind?

I realize that med schools look at more besides GPA but I just want to focus on GPA for now.

I believe the pre-med programs at both schools are great, I just want to make sure I won't be putting all my effort into one school, just to find out it's a disadvantage to do pre-med at that school in the first place because of technicalities like that.

And if you're doing pre-med at UCB, please let me know how your experience has been so far.

I'm sorry in advance if any of my questions don't make sense. Thanks for reading and answering :)

Ok, this message goes out to the dozens of posters about this pre-med scare thing. Pre med here is difficult, but guess what? It’s difficult everywhere! If you put in the same effort here vs ucla I’m willing to bet you, your gpa will be only insignificantly different (honestly the difference between like a 3.5 and a 3.6).
Yes, med schools know about deflation, of course they do, it’d be ridiculous to think they’d consider a 3.6 from cal state channel islands and ucla to be the same.
I’m a premed here, I’m not going to sugar coat it, it’s difficult, but I also think my situation would only be a teensy bit better if anything at all, had I chosen UCLA.
Just pick the school you want to go to and not the school you’re least afraid of, college isn’t meant to be coasted through.

Berkeley has higher representation at top medical schools than UCLA.
