So I was recently accepted to Wesleyan and if I attend I will be pursuing a major in biology under the pre-med program. I understand that over 90% of the pre-med students get accepted into medical school and that's definitely very enticing. Does anyone else know of any advantages or disadvantages to the pre-med program? Or even just to Wesleyan in general?
Is it difficult to get involved in Middletown? Is there grade inflation/deflation? I've been to the campus a couple times but what's the student body like in your opinion?

There isn’t really a pre-med “program” - you major in whatever you want (even non-science!) and simply make sure (with advising help) that you are taking the classes required for medical school.

Peggy Carey Best is the pre-med advisor, and she is a fantasic resource. She’s been advising pre-meds at Wesleyan for a very long time, and knows what med school admission officers are looking for. The advantage of being pre-med at Wesleyan is that you can major in whatever you want and take whatever classes you want (no core curriculum) and so you have maximum flexibility to complete both your major and pre-med requirements. And yes, Wesleyan’s acceptance rate is awesome.

Thank you! That’s another thing I love about it- the flexible curriculum.
Also, did you go to Wesleyan? How did you like Middletown and the student body? Do you think I would still get a good, involved, “college” experience compared to that of someone who attends college, say, in Boston?
