Pre med but can't take science classes the first year?

What classes would you suggest for someone interested in medical school that can't take any sciences their first year? I'm in remedial math and need to complete the class before I can take any sciences, but I can't find anything other than English classes that don't feel like a waste of time.

Does your college have general education requirements? If so, then take classes that would fulfill those requirements.

They do, but it’s only two classes.

agh… i can’t take any science courses either, but only for first semester, because by the time i went to orientation, they were all full! how would taking most my science courses in sophmore year affect me in taking the MCATS at the end of the year?

^ What classes are you taking in the fall? If you log in online, there are still some spots open in some Biology and Chemistry classes at UVM.

You can’t change the classes yourself but you can call in. The person on the phone will tell you it is reserved but just persaude them. I see plenty of Chem and Bio classes with exactly 1 spot open in them.

do you email the professor or is there a general number to call… because i was trying to look for a number…

If your school does require a pre-req, I suggest history of medicine/science or Bioethics

whheex, I assume you are in the school of Arts and Sciences right? Call this number:

(802) 656-3344

Just tell them you want to get into Chem and Bio courses. Don’t hang up if they give you some BS excuse. Be persistent.

Make sure you know which block you want and also pick out a Lab for both classes.

thanks! where’d you find that?

^ UVM Website under Academics > Schools&Colleges > College of Arts and Sciences > Contact Us

lol… so simple -.-"

do you think they will also have phone advisors?

^ I assume you’re pre-med right? (Makes sense cause this is a pre-med forum section)

I don’t know if advisors are available now. But if you want advice on what classes to take and at what time to take them, I can def help out since I am pre-dental and it is basically the same.

I found this 2 page thing VERY helpful: http://www.uvm.edu/academics/programs/premed/premedprofile.pdf

that was very helpful. thanks!
i see why you’re taking bio and chem now and not physics first.

oh and yes, i’m pre-med

Lol, I am going to try to hold off on physics for a long time. I hate it lol.

lol physics is the greatest
