I'm thinking of doing pre-med and was talking to two former UVA pre-meds the other day, and I think both said something about there being two different levels for each of the required science pre-med classes. As in, for bio, for example, there's the general course that you take if you do not have AP credit, but if you do have AP credit, you can take the higher level course, which has smaller classes and is harder, or you can choose to take the larger, easier class. Same goes for chem and physics.

I couldn't find anything about these two levels for each of bio, chem, and physics on the UVA website, so would someone mind enlightening me about them? Also, I have a dilemma of my own. I have an AP chem credit (5 on the exam), but I took the course in 11th grade, last year. I tend to like to challenge myself, but my parents are afraid that if I opted for the higher level chem course, I might not do well since I wouldn't have taken chem since 11th grade. Personally, I have a feeling I can do well in a high-level chem course if I work hard, but I wanted to see what the UVA students here had to say. If you or any of your friends are taking the higher level chem course, how difficult are you finding it, and would you recommend that someone in my situation take it?

Thanks, and sorry for the confusion if any of this turns out to just be speculation.
