I am currently a junior at high school however, I can't stress enough about the composition of classes of my freshman year.
Two Questions:
1)What are the required courses of pre-med?

2) When preparing for med school, would majoring in Biochemistry, Biology, or Chemistry be a good idea? Since med schools mainly look for 'well-rounded' students.

2) required med school prereqs:
1 year of general chem with lab
1 year of general bio with lab
1 year of orgo chem with lab
1 year of phyiscs with lab
1 year of english
1 year of college level math (1 semester calc). Harvard med school requires 2 semesters of calculus. Stats is also recommended for some med schools.

useful courses for medical school and the mcat: biochemistry, physiology, genetics

someone with more knowledge than myself can add some in.

im not sure if this is relevant, but ill just add: if you take a life science major, the premed prereqs will be your lower division courses. so basically you kill two birds with one stone. *don't just take a life sci major for this reason

As for what you will start with, I'm not sure. I am starting a 4 year university after transferring from a c.c. I am only taking with me 14 credit hours, so I am still considered a freshman. I just registered for fall classes this weekend and this is what I am taking:

Biology 1110
Chemistry 1110
Math 1730: Algebra & Trig.
History 2010: Survey of US History
Psych 3230 Abnormal Psych

And my major is currently Psychology. If I become more interested in the sciences at some point, I may change my major. ONLY if I become more interested though. For now, I stay Psychology because I love it.
