I would like to know pre-med colleges rankings and med school rankings. I would appreciate if somebody told me the rankings or gave me links to this information. I have serached the web, only found top med school rankings.

My current situation:
I have no clue what classes to take. Basically, I need to buy a book called Pre-med for dummies if such a book existed. Thats how clueless i am

i would like to know where i could get basic Pre-med information

Basically you want to find a school that has the best combination of prestige and grade inflation. The Ivy leagues and schools like Williams, Amherst, Duke and Stanford are usually the best choices.

As for classes, there's a common set of classes you have to take, including science classes.

ben,
have you read the CC thread on pre-med topics (under professional schools)? Some good info there. Also, I googled 'medical school requirements' and found this, it talks about undergrad classes and the MCAT's:
http://www.studentdoc.com/medical-school-requirements.html
There is no set pre-med major, rather a set of 8 courses that need to be taken within any major. As a matter of fact, some folks think that med schools are looking for people with something other than a straight biology major. Undergrad GPA is importand, as are MCAT's and some kind of medical EC's. My D is considering pre-med and so is volunteering at a low income clinic to get a better feel for the medical field in that context. A couple of college websites, Amherst and U of Chicago, have some good information about general premed as well as specifics about their own programs. I haven't run across any rankings of colleges for premed. One often hears about schools such as JHU as good for premed because they are strong in science; however, due to strong competition for grades, this can backfire as it may be hard to maintain a GPA that will get you into med school. I remember taking a comparitive anatomy class while an undergrad at Cal, I was sure happy it wasn't required by my major and that I could take it pass/fail! It was a pressure cooker compared to any other classes it took. Hope this helps get you started, I'll let you know if I run into anything else that might be informative.

Because there is no set major, I was confused what courses i should take

thank you entomom! Very good website

I'd also would appreciate if somebody could tell me what major are good to impress med schools.
I am interested these subjects:
History - modern world history(especially) World war II is my favorite topic read about
Psychology - Currently enrolled in Psychology AP at my Highschool. Its interesting
Microbiology - I like to learn and study about bacteria's viruses and that type of stuff.

Sorry for the 2nd post in a row. Editted to much

I'm thinking about going to a school (University of Maryland College Park) with a very good engineering program, but I hate math. Even though I'm good at it, I hate doing it. Would majoring in engineering be a good idea to impress med schools since UMCP has a good engineering program.

Engineering is more impressive, but the speculation is that this "advantage" does not adequately compensate for the tough grade deflation in engineering.
