My ultimate goal is to get into med school. I've heard that the name/reputation/how prestigious the college is not as important as your actual grades that you earn in college.

In other words, you'll have better chance of getting in med school if your grades are high and you're in a good college than compared to mediocre grades from somewhere like princeton or stanford.

so should i aim to get higher grades in an easier college or try to get in somewhere like stanford and hope for good grades?

also, any opinions on which colleges prepare students for med school well would be greatly appreciated.

thanks!

All colleges (that aren’t a scam) will prepare you for med school - and let me remind you that preparation only encompasses a bunch of courses in biology, math, chemistry, physics, and maybe another area. You will really get the same general courses anywhere. Having said that, the best preparation for med school is having a brain and using it (although I know quite a few doctors who can only do one of the above).

As to what school you should go to, don’t short change yourself because you want a high GPA from a state school. If you are intelligent and fortunate enough to get into Stanford, then it shouldn’t be too much of a stretch to say that if you work hard you’ll do fine.
