I already completed a year of college bio, chem, physics at another college. So basically, all I need is ochem for premed reqs and the rest of the reqs on what I'm going to major in. I didn't do so hot in physics so I'm thinking of retaking it again. My adviser said that I could probably take chem 3a and physics 8a for 1st semester. I'm just worried that I'll do even worse in physics and basically I'll be screwed. How does chem 3a, physics 8a, astro c10, and some freshman seminar sound for 1st semester?

worst idea ever. Don't take O chem especially if you're pre-med. Wait till second semester for Chem 3A and wait on physics for later when you finished all your calculus here. Astro C10 i heard wasn't that bad.

Well I'm done with multivariable cal so I'm sure the math won't be a problem. I've also taken the physics class thats equivalent to physics 7 series. But I should just make friends/join clubs for 1st sem?

If you feel you can handle it, then go for it. two of my floormates both took 20+ units with chem 3a and did fine (1 got an A+ and the other got an A). note that it is a LOT of work though. there's no hurt in signing up. if you find that it's more than you can handle, drop it. physics 8a has nothing to do with multivariable. If you did well in the 7 series equivalent, I don't think 8 series should be too hard for you.

and what about math? I thought premed kids needed a year of math. Your multivariable might count for one semester but i'd check with an advisor.

im pretty sure my credits transfer. I've taken precal to multivariable so the year math shouldnt be an issue. Mainly concerned about the workload of both physics 8a and chem 3a. I think I might just stick with chem 3a as my major technically course in the end.

med schools still want to see 1 year of math. even if you AP out of math 1a and 1b, you'll still have to take a year. I'm just not sure if that includes community college classes. it's not a question of whether they transfer, but whether med schools will count it. what about your writing classes? they want a year of writing too.

chem 3a and physics 8a together is doable. many bio Es take chem 3a along with a physics 7 class and math 54 and 1-2 more classes. chem 3a from what I hear is selfpaced...your entire grade is based on your performance on tests. physics 8a last semester had weekly homework assignments that usually took a few hours.

lets just say that I'm coming in with junior standing after my credits transfer. I forgot about the writing req but I've taken several English classes that transfer as well.
I guess I can just sign up for both to get in some good discussion/lab spots and drop right?
