I am currently a high-school student aiming for medical school. How will attending an honors college affect my chances of getting into medical school? Should I just go to the normal college and keep my GPA up and use my spare time for extracurricular activities?

You’re probably thinking of colleges that have honors programs (most do) but not an actual honors college. IMO, honors is an added bonus to the resume and such but it doesn’t necessarily mean a higher/lower gpa than that of students in the rest of the university. It’s the rigidity of the courses that matter (as well as your gpa) among other factors like ECs and MCAT score that med schools look at. Basically, you do as much as you can handle and are interested in since everything in general gets factored in. You can still have a high gpa in honors and be an overall great student if you work hard enough.

You don’t need to be in honors program to get in med school. GPA + MCAT is the most important deciding factors.

But honors program will definitely help enrich your college experience. The classes are smaller with more driven classmates who have similar goals.
