Pre-med in Oregon and Washington

Can anyone share their insight into the following schools? My child is interested in being a doctor and we would like a school that has strong pre-med support/advising and a cohort of other pre-med students. HS GPA is 3.3, SAT old 2100

Would these be a match, reach or fit?

THANK YOU!

There’s not such thing as “good premed” premed is not a major.

All of those schools seem decent for pre-med. Look for a college with a strong science department, because you will be majoring in something besides just pre-med (think of pre-med as a specialization track). Have you looked into Washington state University at all. They have a pretty good science department/faculty, a lot of pre-health clubs, and in my opinion a great health professions student advising center that specifically caters to pre-health students. Out of the list of schools you provided, my vote would be for Western, Gonzaga, or Willamette.

willamte has a hospital right outside the edge of campus.

Of course there is such a thing as “good pre-med,” even if pre-med is not a major. The OP specifically asked about pre-med advising and a good cohort of pre-med students, which are two valid considerations to take into account when choosing a college.

I also agree at looking at the local/surrounding are at the number/quality of hospitals, clinics, and/or research centers. Pre-med students need places they can volunteer/shadow and/or get research experience. I think all of these colleges are in places where that wouldn’t be too hard, though.

I think all of these seem like a good place for a pre-med student to get a good start.
