Pre-med = list of classes ?

<p>Just realized pre-med means the list of classes required for a basic medical school. </p>

<p>Is it possible to use AP credit to skip absolutely all of the req's?</p>

<p>If not, is it possible to skip the entire first year of gened's and go straight to second year coursework?</p>

<p>After lurking around this section most people say that majoring in something else than biology or chemistry is beneficial and "stands you out". </p>

<p>Would a major in History (PhD) show dedication to your prospective medical school?</p>

<p>Well, not really. Classes are just one component of the pre-med process. It also includes EC activities that can carry a lot of weight. </p>

<p>There is no AP organic chemistry. So the answer to your first question is no. The answer to your second question is: it depends. If you attend an AP friendly UG school (as I do) then you will be able to bypass much of the introductory and GE requirements. I started with 55 credits hours for the 10 AP exams I took. Every one is being used for some requirement. What this means for me is that as a rising junior, I am now taking some graduate classes for undergrad credit and will be able to take advanced classes outside my major and still graduate on time.
If on the other hand you attend a school that limits your AP credit, then their policy will be the controlling factor. </p>

<p>Not true. The reality is, as long as you do well in your required pre-med classes, your major doesn’t really matter all that much. </p>
