Pre med major

So pretty much I am starting in FIU honors during the fall and am on the pre med track. I am graduating from high school now along with my A.A degree meaning I can probably graduate in 2 years if I major in chemistry which was my original plan. I was also thinking of double majoring or minoring in math. Now i am conflicted because I think I would be interested in biomedical engineering in undergrad but that would take me the full 4 years which kind of puts my A.A to waste. What should I do?

You should not spend fewer than 4 years between high school and med school regardless of what you do.

Personally I would do 4 years of school regardless of whether it’s chem or BME

Do not think that AA a waste no matter what you are planning to do or what you are done in HS, you will ned to adjust upward considerably in your academic efforts. This is simply a fact. Also, it ia a good idea to allow yyourself time for personal growth. Stay in UG for 4 years, very good idea no matter what you major. Do not expect though that it will be as easy as HS.

Do you mind me asking what your stats were when applying? I’m a prospective in-state FIU Honors student, who also wants to take the pre-med track and major in biochemistry or BME. I’m also beginning my dual enrollment so fingers crossed I graduate with my A.A! Thanks so much.
