Pre-med Michigan or Penn transfer

Hi, recently I have been admitted to both schools as a pre-med, biology transfer. I'm undecided. Basically, I have a summer REU at UMich with a research presentation, faculty mentor and all (under the condition I matriculate there) and feel it would be amazing for networking and getting into labs. However, Penn is generally the better school but I'll be out of a summer program and an easy way into a mentorship and lab.

Assuming all other factors like fit and price are equal, would going to Penn give me an edge in medical school admissions? I know the school crops up a lot on class profiles.

bumpp

the mentorship and lab (if you met the mentor and you click)

I’ll be getting into a lab soon, or so I hope. Bump. So it sounds like Penn is better otherwise?

What are the cost differences?

when will you be applying to med school?

If you are applying after junior year (which is risky for a transfer), then you have no choice but to go to Umich.

are you instate for uMich? if not, what is your home state?

I don’t have the price for UPenn yet, but I’d imagine it would be comparable-ish because full need met and all.

In-state for UMich. I’m taking 3 years instead of 2 to graduate when I transfer, and I may take a gap year too depending on how I feel (and if I can secure a 34 on the MCAT…).
