pre-med / nursing colleges or universities in NY.

I would like a list of pre-med / nursing colleges or universities in the state of ny ("not" ny city.) a community college list would also be helpful (for: ny state.) thank you.

For sciences and pre-med, Stony Brook is one of the best. I’ve also heard good things about Geneseo, Buffalo, and Binghamton. Plenty of privates for this: Cornell, Hofstra (which is founding a medical school), LACs like Colgate, Hamilton, Vassar (etc.) may be good as well although the programs may not be ranked ridiculously high.

Nursing is more specialized. The only nursing specific public school that I know of is Binghamton’s Decker School of Nursing. Privates include Molloy College (Long Island) which is well known for nursing.

Go to the SUNY website for a complete list of all the community colleges (outside of NYC). Long Island has Nassau and Suffolk CC, Westchester has Westchester CC and so on.

Stonybrook, Binghamton, Buffalo for the Unversities and Geneseo is the best for the sciences out of the colleges.

Geneseo’s Med School acceptance rate is 92% and they also have a cooperative nursing program with John Hopkins - [Nursing | SUNY Geneseo](http://www.geneseo.edu/admissions/nursing)

IMO, the program at Geneseo is whack. Why would you spend possibly 5 years to only have a Bachelors when there are nursing programs that are 5 years for a BSN and MSN together?!

OP - You need to decide if you want do go into medicine or nursing. That will help you make your choice.

But Syracuse University has a pretty good Pre-Med program. Worth checking out.

University of Rochester has tons of pre-med students. the gi-normous hospital across the street is a plus.
