I'm currently biochem/chem doing pre med but I'm thinking about switching to electrical engineer..

Simply because I could graduate in 4 years and could start working right afterwards. However, it feels weird because making a sudden leap because that means I won't have to continue taking Chem or Bio second semester.

Personally, what do you guys think the pro's and cons are of each major?

Which path would you choose at UCSD? Thoughts?

I’d personally go with Electrical Engineer. It is arguably the hardest major in the school. Most engineers agree to this by their 3rd or 4th year because of its courses, but there are exceptions. The degree itself and a GPA of over 3.0 can land you a great job.

The reason I say this is because of the pro you listed. As a premed, you wont work until you are the age of 28-30 years old even. It is alot of schooling, not to mention the difficulty of getting into Medical school nowadays is astronomically insane. The best advice I have for any premed is to just do General Biology and take the easiest classes offered because its mostly the GPA and the MCAT score that matter there. Coming out of UCSD, to be competitive for a good US medical school, you usually need at least a 3.7 GPA. Your chances get ALOT lower if you are below a 3.5, or have a D or F on your transcript.
