Pre-Med + Psych?

I'm definitely doing Pre-Med to go to medical school (UCSF) for Psychiatry, but I don't know which major will be the best major to go into. I'd love to take care of two birds with one stone by taking classes that fulfill Pre-Med requirements as well as my major requirements, but I'm having trouble deciding between Psychology, Psychobiology, and Cognitive Science. Anyone want to help?

you won’t get into UCSF–i promise

i don’t know what cognitive science is, but psychobio is probably the way to go.

psychobio lower divs = pretty much all the med school prereqs (heavy on science classes).
psychobio upper divs = all psych classes

psych lower divs = random classes that won’t satisfy your premed prereqs
psych upper divs = all psych classes

the difference between the two is that psychobio lower divs is much more science-oriented (and harder, as you can tell)

@aa6590: Yeah, we’ll see about that.

@TeRRaNoXiC: Hm. That’s what I was afraid of. I guess Psychobiology is a good mix of science and psychology. I think I’ll need that.

oh we will.

keep in mind that psychobio still has some upper-div science (chem 153A/L, EEBio, psych 116), but not as many as “pure” science classes.

do well in psychobio lower divs, you’ve locked in your science GPA when applying. do not so well, and it’ll be tougher to catch up your science GPA but you can maintain your cummulative GPA better with the psych classes.

hey, everyone has dreams.

I’m psych + premed!! Psychobiology with a concentration in neurosciences & behavior.

153A is the hardest class ever

^true…but very random that u said that

is anyyyone here a cognitive science major? I’m trying to look for some info on it from a person whos actually majoring in it or knows someone else who is, not like Google info…because I think i might declare this as my major!? idk! please help! =)
