<p>Is it better to attend a more prestigious undergraduate school and then head off to a prestigious medical school or is it better to attend a less prestigious undergraduate school because usually, you can expect less competition? Also, what should high school students be doing their senior year in order to prepare for a career in the medical field?</p>
<p>It is better to attend the school you like better, the one where you can identify with the student body, and the one you would feel most comfortable at. This may be a "prestigious" school. This may not.</p>
<p>to expand - some people do better when they are continually challenged and may not get the positions they really want, others do better as the proverbial "big fish in a small pond". I was the latter, and really found myself at a state school I loved where my interest and effort was rewarded with numerous leadership opportunities and experiences. Some people NEED to beat others in order to get those positions - without the push from others, they have no drive. Going to the right situation thus becomes important for determining how successful a person may be.</p>
