Pre-med Question

I know stanford is strong in Engineering and political sciences etc...but how is stanford's premed program compared to Washington U in ST. Louis, Rice U, or JHU? Is premed advising good? what %ge of premed students get into medicla schools ?
Any input is appreciated.

All four schools have an excellent premed program, and all for have great medical school placement record, so you won’t go wrong at any of them. But just keep in mind that premed is HARD at all of them, and over 50% of students who start out as premeds change their mind once they get a taste of it.

Holy Cross (45 minutes west of Boston) has an excellent record in preparing students for the health professions. Graduates are admitted to medical school at a rate twice the national average, and more than 10 percent of Holy Cross alumni are currently practicing medicine.

Innocentbystande, how is your shameless plug for Holy Cross at all relevant to the OP’s question, which concerns pre-med advising and placement at Stanford?

In 2006, 47.5% of medical school applicants around the nation were accepted somewhere. In contrast, 76.7% of Stanford applicants were accepted somewhere.

There are some schools with higher rates, but I have heard from several sources that such schools dissuade “weaker” candidates from applying to medical school. This is something to look into deeper if you see near 100% acceptance rates.
