Pre-Med Sample Schedule Freshman Year

Any suggestions on what a pre-med freshman student should take fall semester? Prob thinking Calc, Bio, and Chem..I heard that is probably too much to start out.

Idk if it’s too much, but at my school it’s basically mandatory, and what I’m doing next year, although your fourth class is something totally random that has nothing to do with your major (I’m taking a class on Harry Potter, nothing to do with biology)

It shouldn’t be too difficult. I took calc, bio, chem, English, and a couple university-required courses during the fall term of my freshman year. Then again, every person is different and every university runs their courses differently, so it’s hard to tell what will overload you. Just be smart about your choices.

It sounds good. Calc and Chem. will not be too hard. Bio might take more work, but it depends on school. D. took Bio and Chem freshman year with total of 18-19 credit hours.

My math skills aren’t that great. But I had 3 years of bio in high school and two years of chem. going for 16 credits in college fall semester. i’m somewhat worried because I keep hearing how hard that schedule would be from ppl…

^Trust people at your school more than us here on CC. Everybody’s school is different. D’s Gen Chem was very easy, but first Bio was weed out killer (she had both Honors and AP (5) in HS with Honors HS Bio using the same textbook as her college Bio). She did not take college calc at all, said that stats are much more useful. Med. Schools on her list are OK with AP Calc credit. But math is easy for her. So, as you see schools are different and ability level is different, check with advisor at your school.

Yea. I think I might just take bio, chem, calc, and english. I want to take bio and chem together for sure. I also want to take calc and get that req done for med school. :)

Well, english was other very easy “A” for my D. Tons of boring books to read though, which is time consuming. But Honors college English was surprizingly much easier than her AP English. She just complained about wasted time.
