Pre-med to Grad School

I have quite a dilemma. I've been an Electrical Engineering major with pre-med hoping to go to medical school but as a junior, I think I like engineering more. I took my MCAT already and all my pre-med prerequisites.

My question is this: is it still possible to get into a top graduate program for EE(ex. Stanford or MIT)? I have a 4.0 and have been doing research for 3 years. I've also been nominated as a Goldwater candidate by my university and am awaiting results. The only problem is that my research consisted of working in a chemistry lab working on nanotechnology applications. I don't know how graduate schools view this as.

If I can't get into a top graduate program, I'd rather just go to medical school and pursue an academic career that involves research in the applications of engineering to medicine. Sorry for the long post, any advice and feedback is greatly appreciated

Nanotech is a viable area that crosses both chemistry and EE. As such, research in that area should not look any worse for graduate schools than any other. It really depends on what you want to do in EE. Also, be aware that many graduate programs don’t care what you research as an undergrad, only that you have been exposed to research well enough to be informed on your decision to pursue a graduate degree. Having research in your specific field is looked at as a bonus, and a cross-field area like nanotech should not give you problems.
