Which college would provide me with better guidance and help as a pre-med student? Financially, Rice is costing me about $4,000 more each year than UVa. If Rice is better, is it worth that money?

Any opinions? Thanks in advance!

I would go with UVA its in the top 5 or top 10 public schools in the nation and in my opinion, I think it is better than Rice.

$4,000 compared to the eventual cost of medical school and college is relatively a low amount; if you consider it as a percentage, I would urge you not to let this sum of money stand in the way of your decisionmaking.

With that said, I know nothing about either school... UVa has a great med school near campus (a relatively minor factor), but so does Rice (Baylor), so even this minor factor comes out to a wash...

Pediatric,

Could you give me reasons why you think UVa is better than Rice?

I'm just looking for more info on which to base my decision, thanks.

University of Virginia has a great reputation as a great public school on the east coast and even around the country. My friend's sister is a med student at the U of Virginia and she LOVES it. Rice is also good but in my opinion, I don't think it is as strong as the University of Virginia. But I could be wrong.

Good luck in making your decision!
