Typical outlets for pre-med clinical volunteering are going be scarce or totally unavailable for the near future. But that doesn’t mean you can’t help out during this critical period.
Here’s list of ideas where pre-med hopefuls may want to consider donating their time:
–food banks
–Meals on Wheels
–Crisis hotlines (experts expect domestic violence to rise as shelter-in-place and activities restriction continue)
–childcare centers for healthcare providers
–Grab N’ Go food distribution sites/services for the homeless/hungry/low income
–sewing surgical masks
Drivers For Survivors - volunteer to take elderly for recurring hospital appointments (cancer treatment or any ongoing) and bring them back home (2-4 hours).
Need to have a driving license with clean records but only during office hours.
So even if online classes there during office hours, you can plan during summer break. It is in Bay area.
Similar non-profit may be there in your local community.

For risk free option, there is so much higher demand for call centers at hospitals and county health systems. To take the initial calls, triage. But not sure if HS or Pre-Med students are allowed or how to reach out. At least some medical students are doing for the local county health system call center. Since I heard call volumes have gone way up.
Triaging covid-19 calls is not something a pre-med can do. It requires clinical experience with taking PT Hx. Medical students with clinical experience (current MS3-4, but not current MS1-2) are being tapped to do this.
However, pre-meds with experience in providing technical support for video calls, video conferencing or general computer tech support may be welcomed.
