“Well bottom line is med school will look to see where you went for undergrad as well because they will take into consideration that your school was prestigious or not. Plus if you attend prestigious school and you apply for higher ranked med schools they will know the admissions better which will definitely help.
However, most importantly the thing you have to really consider snowy435 is where you want to attend the most because if you attend somewhere just for the sake of pre-med and you dislike the school your grade will suffer (a lot) so I say visit the campus and see which one you like the best.”

Sorry, “prestige” has nothing to do with it. Go ask LizzyM (the wise adcom mentor of SDN). What she would tell you is that students at HYPS 1) are usually stronger to begin with and 2) may have opportunities to work with well-known researchers; however, if students don’t take advantage of those (and only a limited number can as there are only so many research labs and slots for UGs), you’re probably going to do worse than you would have elsewhere (because curves may be tougher). A 4.0 from UCSD>>>3.5 from HYPS (all else held constant).
