this may sound weird but i say maryland because for medical school prestige does not matter at all. it is cutthroat at JHU, UCHicago, and cornell because these are the top schools in the nation. at maryland you can get a high gpa so you might be able to go to a prestgious medical school.

here’s an analogy: going to from Maryland to Harvard Medical School looksbetter than going from Harvard to Maryland Medical School.

the reason i say this is that if you go into academic medicine it only matters where you went to medical school, nobody cares what undergrad school you went to. And i know sometimes that if people go to a less prestigous medical school they try to justify it by saying that they went to a good undergrad.

hypothetical conversation:

Person 1 “Where did you go to medical school at doctor”
Person 2 " I Went to Harvard Medical School"
Person 3 " Wow"

Conversation number 2
Person 1"Where did you go to medical school at doctor"
person 2 " i went to wayne state… but i went to Yale for undergrad"
person 3 " ok…"

^^^^
no offense to Wayne state i was just trying to make a point

the above is just an example that if you have a choice between a good state school versus a really prestigous school go to the state school and get a high gpa. its better to go to a prestigous medical school than prestigous undergrad. well of course the best thing of course is to go to a prestigous undergrad and medical school but that would take so much work.
