Pre-med Williams vs Swarth

I've been admitted EW (Early Write ) to williams and swarthmore. I want to major in internal relations/public policy/soc with a pre-med background. I really like Williams, and I come from NYC, yet I still like the mountanous area. Right now my preference is to williams, but in terms of pre-professionals like med school, which is better, any opinions?

I am sure that you can get an excellent education at either one. So just choose the school that fits your personality better.

I agree with nngmm. Take your pick. Pre-med at both schools is literally as good as it gets. Swarthmore has a bit more of a focus on international issues, public policy, and sociology, but Williams political science department is top-shelf, too.

Even though probably half the students at the two schools are interchangeable, they have quite different campus cultures. So, you really have to visit and decide for yourself.

Williams has a heavier emphasis on athletics (probably the strongest emphasis of any liberal arts college compared to one of the least at Swarthmore). Williams has a more pronounced and visible drinking culture. Williams is "preppier". Swarthmore is "geekier" or "bookish", is more diverse (in all the meanings of the word), and has a stronger focus on "do-gooder" or social justice issues.

It would be hard to go wrong either way.
