I will definitely do pre medicine at BU but I am considering SAR physiology major. Does this mean I will take all classes at SAR or the pre med reqs at CAS and phys at SAR…also is CAS nicer than SAR because I was considering psych major with premed at CAS until I heard that phys majors are way more prepared for mcats. Any insight would be great. Thanks guys!

The human physiology major in Sargent requires you to take classes in both CAS and SAR. You will take the typical pre-med requirements and beyond. For example, as a freshman, you will take biology, chemistry, psychology and writing, which are all offered through CAS. You will also take a freshman seminar that is offered through SAR. As you progress through the years, you will take many upper level courses in SAR in addition to the traditional pre-med courses that will definitely help you on the MCAT and in medical school. These classes include exercise physiology, gross human anatomy (where you work with REAL human cadavers, basically the caliber of a medical school class), neuroanatomy and neurophysiology, etc. Another great advantage about majoring in human phys is that in your senior year, you get to have an internship for credit in one of Boston’s amazing hospitals, which allows you to build your resume and gain invaluable patient care experience. Sargent itself is like a small college within a large university, which provides a great deal of individualized attention as well. I transferred into Sargent from CAS just last semester, and I’m really happy with my decision. CAS also offers many opportunities for pre-med students, so either way you really can’t go wrong! Here is the link to the program, it gives a great deal of info about the human physiology major and all that Sargent has to offer! Hope this helped :)
