pre med

Out of alabama and auburn who has the better pre med program?

if looking at premed program… (although there really isnt any such thing) take the med school requirements and major in whatever you want… but be sure to touch base and follow through with the premed advising… you should also consider UAB (Birmingham)…a top medical school, and a very strong school in alabama for sciences or anything health related. pm me if you would like more info on uab, coa/merit/honors colleges etc

*Out of alabama and auburn who has the better pre med program? *

Not sure what you’re asking.

Pre-med isn’t a “program”. It’s a list of pre-req courses required by med schools that are offered at virtually all universities.

2 semesters of bio
2 sems of Gen Chem
2 sems of OChem
2 sems of Physics
1 sem of Calculus
and some “recommended” courses like Genetics, Anatomy, Statistics, etc.

These aren’t unique classes. These are the same classes that Bio majors take, that Chem majors take, etc.

I don’t know how strong/weak Auburn’s Pre-Health advising is.

Part of The University of Alabama School of Medicine that is at UAB, is at Bama. Auburn doesn’t have any of the SOM on its campus.

I know that Bama has very good pre-med advising and does do Committee Letters - which are a huge help for med school acceptance.

Bama has the far superior honors college, which is a big help for research opps, and other opportunities.

Bama pre-med grads enjoy a high rate of med school acceptance.

Tell us more about you. Where are you from? What are your stats?

What will your major be?

know this is the alabama (tuscaloosa) board, but school of med is uab too…so ignore if you want to :)

think most would rank it as uab, ua, auburn. UAB’s pre med advising is incredible!!! also the sci tech honors program at uab offers incredible opportunities for research and networking within the med school environment… (son has been doing research from his first month there and has already presented papers…he is doing research connected to the school of medicine this year) and is the only honors program like it in the state…it is selective…about 60 students per year accepted. some stats about uab school of med… ranked number 10 for primary care (harvard =#15!) is #30 for research

placement for residency of your choice exceeds the national average

…ua or uab would be a good choice for pre med in alabama
