Does anyone know the acceptance rate of UMDCP pre-meds to medical school?

Maryland has a much higher than average acceptance rate. For the Honors College it is almost 100%.

I should mention however that most entering pre-meds are no longer pre-meds when application time comes. It’s a long rough road.

Really? My S was admitted to Honors College, letters and Sciences, basically undecided major. Hows the advising? Does Honors have their own advisors? What about internship or research opportunities?

The advising for pre-med students is done through the Reed-Yorke office. It is good. They will keep you on schedule and warn you if you have deficiencies. Research at a large research university is never a problem. I was accepted at the first lab I interviewed at here on campus and will work here until graduation (including using the lab work for my honors senior thesis). I also did research during the past two summers off campus.

For the best opportunities, your S should probably pick a major soon.

There is a pre-med forum here on CC that you might find helpful.

However, there are a few cranks that post there :D

Glad to see you plumazul. Hang in there and keep up the good work!
