Pre-med

What is the acceptance rate of JHU Pre-med undergrads into medical school. On a thing they send me, it said 75+ percent but is there a more specific number. I know Rice and the top ivies are around 90+ percent. Also, how much does JHU weed out Pre-meds?

???

I can’t remember where I saw this stat- but just discussed with my daughter at Rice- Rice was 90% and JHU was 93% for getting in their first choice Med-schools. I think a premed major can be anything you want it to be, from what I have read -so it is easy to take the easier road and get a 4.0. I have not heard at all that they try to weed anyone out. Good Luck!!

What is the average curve for Pre-med/science classes?

^impossible to say as most premed classes are in numerous departments (math, chemistry, physics and astronomy, biology, etc. etc.) taught by different professors from semester to semester. Moreover, you will be in class not just with other premeds but English majors wanting to try their hands at Orgo, as well as Chem Buffs who have always loved SN reactions and what not. There is too much variance to accurately give you any answer really.

Thus is my advice: Work hard and good things will follow.

JHU sends 63% of its undergraduate med school applicants to at least one of their choices. It’s a surprisingly low number, but keep in mind that they don’t screen applicants before applying
