Pre-med

Does Cornell have a good pre-med program?

Er... what do you mean by that? Your question could be interpreted in a few different ways:

Does Cornell have good pre-med placement?

~75% of Cornell applicants are ultimately accepted into a medical school. Odds aren't bad (this is assuming that you ultimately decide to remain as a pre-med. Attrition rates are high just like anywhere else).

Does Cornell give a strong scientific background in the pre-med courses?

Uh, yes. Cornell is very strong in the sciences. One word though: physics 112+213 doesn't quite cover fluids, which is a topic on the physical sciences on the MCAT

Does Cornell have good pre-med advising?

This I don't know as I've only been here for a year.

Will I get into a med school even though they only care about GPA and Cornell is known to be grade-deflated?

Well, that depends on you. Cornell isn't as grade-deflated as a lot of people tend to think. Just take a look at the median grade reports (Search for them at Cornell.edu). Some majors have lower GPAs than others.

for covering fluids, most engineers take a fluids class that is required for most majors, especially biological engineering.

Cornell has very good pre-med advising, you can have mock interviews, there are people that can review your application with you and Cornell can pretty much lead you step-by-step through the process.

Majors with lower GPAs would be one such as engineering, maybe some others.

cornell is great for premeds, if you can handle it ha

I don't think there's much difference between the premed "programs" of any Top 20 school.

i've heard rather intense stuff of the cornell sciences...

there is no pre-med major at cornell...what pre-med (like pre-law) means is that you will take the pre-requisites that your medical school requires...or courses that will guarantee success on the mCat...

one can be Food Science major and still be pre-Med...heck I've even heard of anthro pre-Med o_O
