In the future, I plan on applying to Emory's medical school. But as a rising senior, I just hope I will get accepted first :) I would like to know more about which courses would be available to me if I'm set on being pre-med, but I am almost 100% sure that there is no specific pre-med program at Emory. So any information on which classes to choose would be highly appreciated. i'll list my grades for a chance later

There is no Pre-Med major, but there is a Pre-Med track. Being a future Business student, I will let someone else better answer you question.

Visit the premed forum on this website.

You will need two semesters of Biology, Chemistry and Physics all with labs. The key thing is that if you plan to go to med school immediately following your undergrad, you need to have these classes done by the end of your junior year (because you will have to take the MCAT and apply for med school by your senior year and the test will have content from those courses in it). You will also need English (which is standard for any undergrad anyway) and at least one semester of Calculus is strongly recommened. Other people also recommend biochemistry and genetics but they are not premed requirements. Also, a foreign language is helpful, but not required (although it might give you a boost in the application process - especially if that langauge is Spanish - since Emory is in the south and there is a very large hispanic/latino population here.)

You will also want to pursue opportunities to help in a lab (research), volunteer opportunities (anything working with the mass population) and clinical exposure (shawdowing physicians, working in a hospital or clinic or doctors office, etc...)

As you can see, this is time consuming and will require a lot of planning and thought.

There will be premed advisors at the school - make use of them. Also seek out a study group for your classes - your GPA needs to remain high.

And keep in mind that AP credit does NOT count toward the premed requirements for med school. (If you have AP credit in biology - you still have to take the biology courses at your college that are required),

thanks guys. anymore insight?

Yes, it will be tough!

So since there's only a premed track, you can major in, say, Computer Science, and still have enough room to take the courses needed to apply for med. school?

yes for sure. you can major in anything from english to philosophy to bio and be fine with getting your premed courses completed. major in what you like so that you can do your best.
